Lust 16 x 20
Too much food, Black Friday mayhem, and long naps. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. A full day of eating and sitting around got me excited about the next piece of this series, “Gluttony”.
A few weeks ago, I finished up another painting in the 7DS series, “Lust”.

After sketching and cutting out the stencil, I taped the stencil to the panel which I had already painted with a solid green. The final step was to paint it. That’s my favorite part. The sad thing is, it only takes a few minutes. Please forgive the terrible photo. I’ll work on posting a better shot soon.

I’ve begun work on a new series entitled 7DS. This series revolves around Star Wars characters and how they represent each of the Seven Deadly Sins. I’m really stoked about these as I’m working with techniques and media that are completely different than what I’ve been doing up until now. For each piece, I draw and cut out stencils and then spray paint them onto panels. Over the next few posts, I’ll be walking through my process. First, here is the stencil sketched out and ready to be cut.

I spent some time this afternoon painting outside. It was a beautiful, hot day and the clouds were perfect. It was a perfect opportunity to capture the beautiful elegance of nature.
Apparently, I’m not very good at keeping up with this page. I haven’t put the art down, I just havn’t been posting about it lately. I have several thoughts and projects in the wings and on my plate, so there should (hopefully) be some increased activity here… Soon.
“Five Cherries” was awarded first prize at the 2010 Seven-State Biennial Juried Art Show held by the University of Science and Arts in Oklahoma.
Works will remain on display at the USAO Art Galery in Chickasha, Oklahoma through November 27. On December 15, 2009 the show will open at the Charles B. Goddard Center in Ardmore, OK and run through January 30, 2010.

Ted Conley with "Self Portrait the Artist"
Man, what a fun night. I was a little bit worried about starting the night with a family dinner. My fiance’s family has never met my family, so we thought “why not?”. As it turns out, it was a pretty good idea after all.
As for the reception, we had a great turn out. It was never packed, but miraculously well-rotated. It almost seemed like there was someone at the door maintaining a comfortable capacity.
Thanks to everyone who came out . It was a great time. For those who couldn’t make it, don’t worry. There are still a few paintings available for purchase and I will be updating the website soon with those images.
