Artist Ted Conley was born in Altus, OK. Although most of his life was spent in Altus, he has lived in several other towns and cities in California and Oklahoma.
Aside from his High school education and a few semesters spent studying at the University of Oklahoma School of Art, Ted Credits himself as being “Institutionally self-taught”. He has gained the majority of his experience from studying classical masters, such as Ingres and Caravaggio and spending countless hours in his studio honing his craft.
In 2005, he moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma and embarked upon a career as a graphic artist. Recently he has returned to the area he loves most: creating inspiring and intriguing still life paintings and portraits in the Modern Realism style. Ted’s use of dramatic reflection and shadow evokes a sense of intrigue and emotion. His use of unorthodox vantage points and subject matter in his paintings has earned him several awards. His work has been featured in several galleries and alternative art spaces and has found its way into many private collections across the United States.
